Short link: http://artbrum.com/12908
A major exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery focusing on Matthew Boulton’s (1728-1809) life and work.
An important figure in Britain's Industrial Revolution, Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) has a great historic significance to Birmingham. 2009 marks the bicentenary of Boulton’s death. This anniversary provides the City of Birmingham with a opportunity to celebrate Boulton’s historical significance, and to raise his profile regionally, nationally and internationally.
The centrepiece of the bicentenary celebrations will be a major exhibition focusing on Matthew Boulton’s life and times at Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery. The exhibition will showcase important material from Birmingham Museum’s and the City Archives’ own world-famous collections. It will also feature loans from national museums, the Birmingham Assay Office, private collectors and other external partners.
